The Haunted House, an Illustrated Tale

The following is based on a true story.

The Haunted House, by Cambden Blair

Beware!

(from l to r: The Meanest Ghost, The Mind-Reading Ghost [with fireballs], The Angry Ghost, Vampire [with tentacles])

Once, there was a family who moved…

…to a new house. They loved the house but, whenever they left, monsters popped up and their house was haunted. And that’s where the story began.

“We do bad, bad things,” they all said. “We break the couch. We break chairs. We break all things everywhere,”

they said. Then the family came home, seeing the monsters wrecking the house. Tearing the books and jumping on the bed.

The family stepped inside the house. And they fought with the monsters and they fought.

They melted all the ghosts but the vampire was terrible to get. What will they do?

But the kid knew just what to do. She said, “Abracadabara! Go away! Don’t come back another day! Go to the dungeon! You will fall! Never come…”

“…back! That’s what I say!”

And they hopefully lived happily ever after.

It’s the mark of a gifted writer that the ending is left a little ambiguous! Will they??

Cambden, that was a very good, very scary story! I really liked the illustrations too!
